The Day the War Came

is a project documenting fragile moments of Syrian children’s lives as they witness war with their own eyes, bodies, and objects that carriesimprints of this ongoing conflict.

For years, people of Ghouta were living inside their beautiful attractive area, until the war and siege came and stole everything.

Children were impacted the most; their playing square was between the destroyed buildings. They were watching their houses as they fade away due to the bombardments. Some of them were lucky enough to stay alive after surviving many airstrikes, and the rest might have got killed as they left their schools.

Their belongings staysas a witness to remind us of the ugliness of war.

Eastern Ghouta is an area located east of the Syrian capital Damascus. The Syrian government forces were imposed a tight siege on that area for more than 5 years.
